More bagging on Los Angeles
February 1, 2011
TechCrunch’s Sarah Lacy just called Los Angeles “California’s digital also-ran” today in an article. That, after it’s regularly bagged on local companies like MySpace and Demand Media. It’s a mystery to me why local startups seem to worship TechCrunch. But, I guess we’re better at making money (and IPOs, at least recently) than tooting our own horn.

Honestly, Ben, does anyone sincerely care what Tech Crunch says about anything? TechCrunch = Silicon-Valley cheerleaders and republishers of press releases pretending to be insightful analysts and journalists. They're at their best when they just republish lightly curated press releases.
Yeah, honestly I didn't know there was a “cold-war” going on, seems like a bit of circular hyperbole. Fwiw Alexia Tsotsis is from Socal and makes it a point to give LA startups some attention. But I agree with Ben, TC is becoming more of a “pop” tech blog than a business tech blog. Either that or SF is just jealous that we don't let homeless people poo on the sidewalk.
