So much for the “hometown” paper
Not that most folks reading this read the daily newspaper anymore, but one example of why no one does, is this: The LA Times posted an article today, Silicon Valley becoming driving force for electric vehicles – postulating that Silicon Valley has become the center of the world for the emerging electric vehicle industry, based on the IPO of Tesla Motors today, and only barely mentioning Southern California. The article–which got plenty of space on the paper version of the LA Times–was written by a writer for the San Jose Mercury News/McClatchy.
All this, despite the very robust activity in Southern California in the electric car industry, and countless firms involved in some segment of the business (not to mention SoCal’s very strong heritage in the auto design world for traditional carmakers).
