Summer vacation season hits
One of the advantages (or disadvantages, depending on how you look at it) of running an email newsletter as part of our site, is you get a very direct feel for how many people are in or out of the office on any given day. Because we send out our newsletter every day to email subscribers, we get to receive lots of “Out of Office” bounces.
Today, it’s very clearly an “out” day, and it looks like lots of folks are heading out on vacation before the July 4th holiday. Back during the dot-com bust, we use to use “Out of Office” replies to figure out which were the latest companies to go under or disappear (something that is rarely announced). Nowadays, we just use it to figure out when people are working, and aren’t.
btw, if you’d like to subscribe to our free email updates — which, interestingly enough, are far more popular than even our Twitter feed– you can do so by going to our subscription page.
