Mahalo’s Calacanis Set To Commit Facebook Seppeku Today

Jason Calacanis, the outspoken CEO of Santa Monica-based Mahalo, is set to delete his Facebook page today, because he “no longer trust(s) Facebook or Mark Zuckerberg” with his information, and because “Facebook has become a waste of time” in his life. Calacanis–who either is considered one of the great entrepreneurial minds of Southern California or one of its biggest self-promoters, depending on who you ask–is broadcasting his deletion this afternoon at 1pm on This Week In Startups, his video podcast (and newest startup). Interestingly enough, Calacanis, through a misconfiguration of his private mailing list, JasonNation–which goes out to around 23,000 email readers–allowed “reply all” for a few hours after his initial announcement early Wednesday morning, essentially turning his email list into his own social networking service.
