LA’s employment story, in pictures

April 26, 2010

Interesting numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. They just released their monthly employment numbers, and the only bright spot in employment, year over year in Los Angeles has been the Information sector. (More analysis from the BLS here).

April 16, 2010

IPOs (er, filings) are back

April 16, 2010

TEDxUSC (and TED proliferation)

April 14, 2010
Tags: tedxusc

TED–which is now being held in Long Beach, and is known for its very exclusive, invite-only atmosphere, and thoughtful thinkers–apparently is gearing up big time for independent events. According to TED’s Lara [...]

Note to self: take all April 1st emails with a grain of salt

April 1, 2010

Ah darn, Boingo wasn’t serious about its offer to give a million Wi-Fi minutes to a user that tattooed the firm’s logo somewhere on their body.  (The hazards of real-time Internet coverage, illustrated…)

Boingo jumps on Tattoo bandwagon with free Wi-Fi contest

April 1, 2010

In what seems to be the beginning of trend for Los Angeles Internet companies, Boingo Wireless just said today that it will give away a million hours of free Wi-Fi on its network of hot spots, to any user which gets a tattoo of the firm’s logo. That’s the second Los Angeles area company offering [...]
