Goodbye, Bruce
As publisher of news and information on high tech companies here in Southern California, it seems like among the folks you get to hear from most are the PR folks. There’s always a love/hate relationship between editors and PR, but as we’re a very professional, tight knit community here in Southern California it ends up being a mostly friendly relationship (ie, we might not cover their news, but they’re respectful of our editorial decisions, etc.)
One of those professionals, who I’ve gotten to know over the years is Bruce Manning, who — I just learned–passed away of a heart attack recently. Dan Chmielewski has more on Bruce. Lots of folks might not know Bruce from his work in the high tech industry (particularly in the optical/networking business), but might have heard him anchoring for KFI Radio. A few years back we were chatting about his radio background, and I mentioned to him he ought to get into podcasting, so he launched his own podcast, PRodcast, where he turned the table on the press and interviewed them. He really was a great guy and a real professional. Goodbye, Bruce…
