Not all bad news: companies hiring
If you’re like me, you’re tired of hearing about layoffs, the huge number of job losses due to the economy, etc. So, it’s nice to hear that there seem to be a number of local companies squarely in hiring mode.
One of those companies is Aerovironment, which has locations in Monrovia and Simi Valley–the firm just sent out a media alert calling attention to the firm’s upcoming job fair in Monrovia. In a typical day or year, we’d ignore it, but given the economy it’s surprising to see companies calling attention to their hiring plans. Aerovironment develops products for two industries which seem to be in the limelight lately: products for the clean energy industry, including electrical energy systems; and products for the military, including unmanned aircraft.
Aerovironment lists 117 positions open on its web site: the firm said it is running a job fair February 12th at the Monrovia Doubletree Hotel from 3pm to 7pm.
