Science Fiction Becomes Reality: 911 Hackers
February 2, 2009
In a (someone dismal) case of science fiction becoming reality, the Washington Post has an article today about how hackers are using Voice-over-IP (VoIP) to “hack” the 911 system, and sending SWAT teams to the houses of people they don’t like (or randomly pick).
Fans of William Gibson — who coined the term “cyberspace” in his science fiction stories — might recognize this from the plot of (memory serving) Virtual Light.
