More on the perils of Internet fame
Jason Calacanis has reposted a long (but well written) discourse on the pitfalls of relationships going “all digital,” which provides more illumination on the whole Michael Arrington withdrawing from blogging story yesterday. Calacanis writes:
I’m 100% convinced that the trend in 2010 and forward will be people trying to remove their virtual presence on sites like Flickr, YouTube and Facebook. Already, I’ve noticed people are moving their settings to private–perhaps something they should have done from the start.
Those are striking words from someone whose credo has been “live your brand” (Andrew Warner is running a podcast series with Calacanis about that philosophy) — much of which has fueled the Internet celebrity and issues Calacanis outlines in his post.
