Blog overkill: 2am Sunday posts
August 4th, 2008 by Benjamin KuoI was chuckling this morning a bit when I saw how many bloggers posted stuff at 2am on Sunday evening. If you follow the many technology blog news sites (aside from our own) you’ll notice some strange posting schedules where folks are posting news stories at all sorts of odd hours of the morning, plus on weekends. I’m not sure if this is pressure from the blogging world to “be first” or carryover from the work habits of the journalists (particularly newspapers, which traditionally had a late evening deadline to meet print run requirements).
I’m pretty sure most of our readers (professionals, venture capitalists, angel investors, and entrepreneurs) are not particularly concerned about getting their technology news at 2am on Sunday evening. Maybe I’m wrong (love to hear opinions) but I suspect even in this 24/7 connected world most business with U.S. companies gets done during nominal business hours, not at the wee hours of the morning, and particularly not on the weekends.
